Lea R.C. High Performance Fast Track Course
31 October–2 November 2025
The Lea High Performance Fast Track Course has been designed to identify athletes with a high aptitude for rowing. We hope the fast track process will lead to the identified rowers racing at National events for Lea R.C. within 12 months. These events include The Men’s/Women’s Head of the River Race, Henley Royal Regatta and the British Rowing Championships. Exceptional candidates will be put forward for the Great Britain Rowing Olympic Team Trials.
Rowing requires long levers and we are looking for athletes over 172cm (Women) and 184cm (Men) who are 26 years old or under.

Testing will take place on the following dates at the Lea Rowing Club:

Friday 31st October: 19.00–20.30 (Land testing and measurements)

Saturday 1st November: 12.00–15.00 (Water Skills)

Adult Learn to Row courses
Are you looking for a new challenge?
​
Rowing is an exciting and fun sport that can help you to get fit quickly, learn a new team sport, build your confidence and help you meet new people. Our Learn to Row courses for beginners will get you started with the basics of the sport and get you out on the water. Where you take it from there depends on how far you want to push yourself. There are follow on courses and various pathways to our various squads, ranging from recreational to competitive at the highest level.
Courses start in June each year run throughout the summer. Join our mailing list to be the first to find out!
When?
Courses run throughout the summer and last around four weeks.

Coaching
All sessions are led by a qualified coach, with support from experienced club members.
Accessible
We use stable boats, suitable for beginners of all ages and fitness levels.

Gill Parker
Learn to Row course leader, and a former Olympian!
Gill Parker is a former British Olympic rower, having taken part in the 1976 Montreal Olympics, the first time women rowed in a British Olympic team. She has been training at Lea Rowing Club since we opened the doors for the first time in 1980, and has coached our senior men and women over the years.
