JOIN LEA ROWING CLUB

Join Our Club

We always welcome new members who want to compete at the highest level nationally and internationally, or simply want to enjoy rowing socially and being part of our community.

Based in Hackney, we row on a stretch of the River Lea that runs past the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. We are the closest rowing club to The City (30 minutes by bike or public transport).

The Men’s Squad is looking to continue to build upon its strong crews at Henley Royal Regatta, including the Wyfold Challenge Cup in 2018 and 2017, and semi-final in the Britannia Challenge Cup in 2015. It has serious ambitions to return to the winners podium and add to the current club tally of six HRR wins.

Men’s Squad

For adults early in their rowing careers, our Novice and Development Squads have had some big successes, supported by a structured training programme. More information can be found on our Men’s and Women’s Squad pages. The entry point for Novice rowers is via our Learn to Row Course

Novice & Development Squads

The Women’s Squad continues to consolidate and build upon its recent wins at Henley Women’s Regatta, in 2013, 2015 and 2017, and at international events.

Women’s Squad

The extraordinary achievements of our Junior Squads at national and international level are too numerous to list on this page. See our Junior Squad and Hall of Fame pages for more information.

Junior Squads

The Women’s and Men’s Masters’ Squads plan to improve their performances at Veteran Fours Head, Veteran’s Head of the River Race, British Masters Championships; and to put in strong showings at Henley Masters Regatta and the European and World Masters Championships.

Masters’ Squads

Our Recreational Squad’s adventures include rowing from the Lea R.C. along the river Thames to Henley, around Canvey Island in Essex, and regular events with Broxbourne Rowing Club.
