UNIVERSITY ROWING

University Rowing at Lea R.C.

University of Hertfordshire athletes have rowed at Lea R.C. since 2012. They have their own session on Wednesday afternoons. As members of Lea R.C. they can also join any of our racing squads if they would like to commit further.

The University of Hertfordshire Rowing Club welcomes all levels of ability from complete novices to experienced competitive rowers. Water training is held at Lea R.C., where everyone is also given membership. The students’ training also includes ergometers, circuits and gym work. There is an opportunity for the students to compete in a number of events hosted by the Club, British Rowing and British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS), which cater for all standards. In addition to weekends away racing, the club has a lively social atmosphere, which brings members together.

Trials and taster sessions take place during the first two weeks of term after fresher’s week.

The university students often take the opportunity to train and race with the Senior squads of the Lea R.C. Former students who have continued to be active Lea R.C. members include Henley Royal Regatta semi-finalist, Richard Hill, and two times novice pennant winner at Women’s Head of the River, Jess Bell.
